About the Artist
LEATHER
Kim Stenson’s first artistic love is leather. A skill, trade, and profession he learned in 4-H, starting in 1967 at age 13. It was an immediate connection and lifelong passion. Kim desires to bring the western style tooling to an artistic level which should help advance the tradition.
WATERCOLOR PAINTING
Kim Stenson is an artist who preserves passing scenes and transient episodes for future enjoyment. That is a fancy way of saying Plein Air painter – painting outdoors and/or at the scene. He has painted since 1988 – it was an off-shoot of his love for leather work.
OIL PAINTING
Kim’s oil painting is primarily studio time. A deeper study of subjects and development of style and ideas. Studio time allows Kim to work in a larger format and more sophisticated technique.
